In 1958, John C. Koss revolutionized the way we all experience music with the invention of the world's first SP/3 stereophone. Koss' vision was to replicate the excitement of a live musical performance, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in the sound like never before, bringing them closer to the music they love. This dedication to accuracy in sound reproduction is globally recognized as "The Sound of Koss."
Prior to the groundbreaking SP/3 Stereophone in 1958, John C. Koss had already developed a portable stereo photograph player with side-wing speakers. Building upon this foundation, the SP/3 Stereophone introduced personal stereo audio to the world. In 1960, Koss released the predecessor to the SP/3, the lighter and more comfortable SP/3X, with superior sound quality.
Continuing to push the boundaries of headphone technology, in 1970, the Pro/4AA set a new standard for full-size professional headphones, delivering true full-frequency performance. On June 25, 1971, John C. Koss unveiled the new Koss World Headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 1974 saw the release of the HV/1A, the first dynamic headphone capable of reproducing all 10 audible octaves.
In 1984, the acclaimed Porta Pro was released, setting performance and comfort standards worldwide for decades. Five years later, the JCK/300 Kordless Headphone system set the benchmark for infrared wireless headphones. Koss's revolutionary ESP/950 electrostatic headphones, introduced in 1990, showcased breakthrough high-fidelity sound.
Carrying on the legacy of the Pro/4 line, the Pro4S Studio Headphone, released in 2014, was specifically designed for audio professionals. In 2017, Koss released the acclaimed KPH30i, featuring an ultra-lightweight design with remarkable high-fidelity sound.
Koss continued to evolve its wireless headphone offerings, introducing the Utility Series in 2021 with three new headphones, allowing listeners to connect via Lightning, USB-C, and 3.5mm. Finally, in 2023, Koss unveiled its latest innovation, the TWS250i True Wireless Earbuds, further expanding its wireless audio portfolio.
The Koss Utility Series KPH40 Utility packs remarkable high-fidelity audio, with a frequency response of 15-25,000Hz, into a sleek, ultra-lightweight design. The detachable cord system offers the freedom to connect to Lightning, USB-C, and 3.5mm devices, including a built-in DAC for high-resolution 24-bit/96kHz audio on the USB-C Utility cord. The KPH40 Utility features an adjustable headband and articulating ear cups for a comfortable listening experience, available in both Stealth Grey and the iconic Rhythm Beige colorways.
